2013 is our 10th Anniversary! To celebrate, we are kicking off a series of blog posts that tell the
stories of inspiring women and how they make a difference in the lives of
others. We are so excited to share the
love and we hope you will help us spread the word, too!
Last year we were introduced, by Tiffany Denson and Katy
David, to an inspiring facility in San Antonio called Lexi’s Place. Lexi’s Place is an innovative non-profit that provides transitional
residential housing and support services for at-risk young women (ages 18-24)
that have aged out of the Texas child welfare system.

Every year, foster children age out of foster care without
ever having found a permanent home.
Instead of a time of celebration, their eighteenth birthday marks a loss
of shelter, food and support from their foster family circle.
Tiffany founded Lexi’s Place when she
recognized the critical need for transitional housing and support
services. After working with Child
Advocates San Antonio (CASA) for five years to develop and
implement programs for teens to transition out of the foster care system, she
discovered that any success gained was quickly lost when the teen was often
left to live on the streets after aging out of foster care.

Katy, current Board Chair, served
as a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children. Her
involvement with CASA led to chairing the board
of Lexi’s Place. From legal advice to collecting books for a
residential library, Katy and her fellow directors are thoughtfully
supporting Lexi's Place in both big and small measures.
The mission at Lexi’s Place is to provide “a
stepping stone to young women’s independence.”
We think what they are doing is amazing and we hope you think so,
too! Help us support them by sharing
this story with others and for every LIKE
to this post on Facebook, between now and Feb 28, we will donate 50 cents to Lexi’s
Place. The link to Facebook is: https://www.facebook.com/buy.sparklers.biz
